Students at MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth will be now able to view over 35,000 videos from their classrooms.

The school inaugurated the use of a learning technology called Smartclass from Educomp Solutions on June 18. Students can see videos from almost every stream of learning apart from vernacular languages.

Subimal Sen, Chairman West Bengal Council of Higher Education was the chief guest. “Students can see the entire world of knowledge unfolding in front of their eyes. The most interesting part is that it will happen in front of their teachers,” he said.

Smartclass has been introduced in 2000 schools across the country besides being used by institutes in Singapore and the US. Other schools in Kolkata using Smartclass include Ballygunge Shiksha Sadan, National Hindi High School and all the three DPS schools.

The technology is meant to supplement learning. “We aim at providing a supplementary aid to the teachers and not at replacing them. Another special feature of this technology is that the teachers can program the videos as and when they want it to be screened during the week,” said Chandrajit Mitra, Assistant Vice President, Educomp Solutions.

The software aims to increase productivity. “The teacher-led content delivery system makes learning an enjoyable experience for students. It enables multi-sensory learning in classrooms thereby improving academic performance of students,” said Kishen Kejriwal, Trustee of MC Kejriwal Vidyapeeth.
